The green "Guardsman" and "Carnifex" are the equipment you're wearing.
The left indicates what is attacking you, dual blade, Shortbow etc.
If it says Toughness to the side of it, it means that you get more value out of having

Toughness attribute points with your equipment against that class or troop.

If it says armor then it's best using armor attribute points against it.
